Cartmel Horse HolidaysBramble Byre is situated a mile and a half above the historic village of Cartmel on the edge of the Lake District. It is surrounded by bridleways and quiet country lanes, with rides ranging from an hour or less, to all day in the saddle, with little or no road work if you wish. Time your visit well and your horse can have a day off while you enjoy a day at the races - you'll drive past Cartmel Race Course on your way to Bramble Byre.
For the Horses We have grazing for four or five horses in a stone walled field, which is sub-divided by electric fencing, so it is easy to provide individual grazing if you require this. We have a spacious open fronted building which you can use for feeding, grooming and tacking up, which has a saddle rack beside each tie-up ring, and is very close to the secure tack room. Hay, haylage and other feed can be provided by prior arrangement. The grazing is available from £5 per horse per night, with other services by arrangement. There is a large parking area in front of the house and adjacent to the tacking up area, with plenty of room for trailers or lorries. For the People We provide quality bed & breakfast, with one twin and two double rooms in our converted barn, and packed lunches are available by arrangement. There are four pubs and two restaurants to choose from in the village for evening meals, and of course you can buy Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding! All bed linen and towels are provided - bed & breakfast is available from £35 per person per night. If you wish to stay in your own lorry, this can be arranged by prior agreement. Riding Opportunities We are situated on a bridle path, and the surrounding area is full of bridlepaths and quiet country lanes, with access right up onto the fells. Route maps and printed directions are available for a multitude of rides and we will be very happy to advise you so you can make the most of your visit to this lovely riding area. Directions From the M6, take Junction 36 and follow signs for Barrow on the A590, then follow signs for Cartmel (the Priory has brown Tourist Board signs too) and we're just one and a half miles from the village, turning left uphill after the Race Course.
