Newark Farm

Newark Farm is a traditional family run working beef and sheep farm nestling in the Nith Valley at the foot of the Lowther Hills. Enjoy a friendly welcome and beautiful view from the period farmhouse (pre 1800) to Sanquhar Castle and a rare 400-year-old Maple tree. Take advantage of lots of off road riding options including Drumlanrig Country Park. Get away from it all at this tranquil location!

For the Horses

Five very large loose boxes are available, two in an outbuilding and three in an enclosed shed. Two grazing paddocks are available right next to the farmhouse (one of the bedrooms overlooks the paddocks) and another two fields close by. Up to ten horses can be accommodated. The paddocks are fenced with Rylock netting and electric fencing can be provided if required. Hay and straw/shavings bedding available. Secure storage for tack and ample parking space.

For the People

Guests are staying in a charming and comfortable period farmhouse (STB 3 Star). Choose from two characteristic family rooms (one with En-suite bathroom) and one double room (all centrally heated, one room with disabled facilities). Price range: £21 - £25 per person per night. Newark Farm also offers self-catering in a fully furnished Mobile Home and space for caravans.

Riding Opportunities

Right from the doorstep you can choose from plenty of off road hacks of varying length and interest. Ride through the farm to Sanquhar and up into the hills with gallops and circular rides. Near Drumlanrig Castle and Country Park, just follow back roads or box up and take a short drive to the estate. Ideal place to stay for Sanquhar Riding of the Marches week (before 3rd Sat in August).
