For the Horses

Having a holistic approach to horse-keeping, welfare and well-being, Saughs Farm provides multiple options for people to choose from to suit the needs of their horses. Facilities on the 110-acre farm are high quality and range from roomy stabling to dry-lot turnout pens with shelters, to post and rail paddock grazing turnout. There is stabling for up to 8 horses and plenty of grazing. Hay/haylage and straw can be provided. Price range: £10 per horse per night or £50 per week.

For the People

The original Saughs Farm byres have been converted into 3 luxurious self-catering cottages full of traditional character with wooden beams and highly individual features. Each cottage is centrally heated, with wood burning stoves for added cosiness and has its own patio with outdoor garden furniture and barbeque. Price range: Cottage from £195 per week. Horse & Rider Package from £40 per night. Ask for discounts and group rates.

Riding Opportunities

Saughs Farm invites people to bring their horses and ponies to enjoy a unique rural location with endless all weather country trails and forest bridleways that extend from a myriad of local circular & connecting routes to extended rides ranging as far as Kielder Forest country. The farm itself encompasses some 110 acres of grass and conservation land. You can also bring your horse to participate in a specialised range of tuition, events, workshops and residential clinics and take advantage of the excellent facilities.

Directions

Saughs Farm is situated in northern Cumbria, not far from the Scottish/English Borders. Come off Junction 22 on the M74 and follow signs for Longtown (A7). From Longtown follow signpost for Catlowdy/Penton and stay on this road for 7 miles. At T-junction (pub on your left) turn right ont B6318 and stay on road for around 5 miles passing through Catlowdy.At Sleetbeck crossroads take left for Bailey Mill (playpark on your right) and after around 2 miles look out for Saughs Farm sign on your right.
