Enjoy true trail-riding experiences over varied terrain with or without your own horse in the Highlands of Scotland. Templestone Trails is run by husband and wife team Cal & Fiona near Forres. In this stunning setting you can gallop over miles of deserted beach, go swimming with horses, trek through woodlands, hills and over moors - take your pick!

For the Horses

Templestone Trails offer trail-riding holidays in small groups of up to 5 riders. They have a loyal herd of 9 horses and ponies living together all year round. Adult beginners are welcome as are experienced riders. Children must be over 12 years and have some riding experience. For riders bringing their own horses Templestone offers stabled accommodation for up to three horses with a small area of grazing for them to stretch their legs after their journey. Secure storage for tack and rugs.

For the People

Cal & Fiona can help to arrange accommodation for you, there are lots of local B&Bs, hotels and camping sites to choose from. Moray is a fabulous tourist destination with some great pubs and eateries for your après trail riding treat.

Riding Opportunities

Enjoy exhilarating rides on wide sandy beaches that stretch for miles. Moray offers magnificent countryside and the beautiful river Spey flowing through the region. Many old railway lines, drove roads, forestry roads and estate tracks traverse all of this countryside. Fiona will guide you out and about on the trails or talk you through the maps if you wish to ride unaccompanied. Templestone Trails is an approved trail riding centre and member of the TRSS. Group rides will only ever be as large as 5 people with a pack pony.

- 2 hour ride £30 (beginners welcome)
- 3-4 hour half day ride £45 (various routes)
- Dallas Dhu Distillery with coffee or whisky £60
- Loch Romach £90 (bring your own picnic)
- Full day ride to Findhorn beach £90 (pub lunch not incl.)
- Lorry trips to Findhorn or Rose Isle beaches £120
- Moray Coast Ride £140 (Burghead to Findhorn)
