There is a local golf course, fresh water and sea angling, and cycle routes all close by. Whether you are looking for an exhilarating gallop across mile upon mile of golden sand, a canter through the forestry lanes, or a hack down to the local pub, we have the flexibility and facilities to meet the needs of both you and your equine friend.
There are many riding facilities that can be visited within 20 mins of yard including Barnadown A renowned show jumping arena where the likes of cian o conner can be seen competing and who have recently extended their cross country course and hold competitions at weekends that can be entered for as little as 20 euro. Or why not treat yourself to a lesson with International Olympic rider Niall Griffin at Monart House. And if racing is in your blood there are various local trainers that will hire out there all weather gallops again for as little as 20 euro. Wexford Races also hold meetings during the summer months. There are also local hunts held in the winter months that can be booked by prior arrangement. For The Horse There are three stables which are large and comfortable with automatic water drinkers, Feed pots and hay racks. A large Secure tack room and separate drying room for those wet days. There is turnout close to yard in the most tranquil of settings just a short walk into forestry, all securely fenced with automatic water drinkers. For People The Thatched House contains one double bedroom with unsuite, two single bedrooms, large kitchen with stanley cooker, sitting room and conservatory. It is situated in a quite lane two minutes down onto beach or into local forestry and 2km from Blackwater village. A real haven to get away from it all and have some total relaxation in a family home. Riding Opportunities Superb off road riding, along sandy beaches, through country lanes and to local riding facilities including show jumping, cross country, and racing gallops. A welcome pack with local information is available and guides by arrangement. Directions From Rosslare Port head towards Wexford Town go across Wexford Bridge and take the coast road signposted to curracloe, past through curracloe village and head onto blackwater, go straight through blackwater village and out onto killmuckridge road for about a mile and a half, take the first turn to the right signposted to knocknasillogue and the beach, take the next turn to the left down narrow lane and 200 yrds on left are the thatches. The journey from Rosslare Port should take approx 40 mins. |
