Surroundings
Mountskip Farm

Mountskip is an ideal location to explore the Tyne Esk Trails, sixty miles of horse trails comprising four circular routes in the glorious Midlothian countryside. Two luxury log cabins are planned for summer 2007 situated in a lovely semi rural location, yet only 12 miles from Edinburgh city centre. Your horse will be looked after by qualified staff if you want to combine beautiful rides in the countryside with day trips to historic Edinburgh – have the best of both worlds!

For the Horses

Mountskip Farm offers large modern indoor barn stables with auto drinkers, indoor grooming and tacking up areas. Any type of bedding or feed can be provided by arrangement. There are acres of post and rail paddocks with six grazing paddocks available for visiting horses. Take your pick including a paddock with a lovely wooden stable block for 2 horses (view to Crichton Castle is a bonus!). Large floodlit parking area with CCTV. Price range: From £10 per night.

For the People

Two luxury log cabins will be ready soon. Please phone for details. These are situated with beautiful views on this 50 acre farm. They will be fully furnished including bed linen, towels, TV and DVD. Good choice of restaurants, bars and supermarkets close by. Price range: Log cabins from £350 per week. Facilities for caravans available.

Riding Opportunities

Mountskip Farm is located right on the 13.5-mile Vogrie Trail, which is signposted from the bottom of the driveway. The other Tyne Esk Trails are on your doorstep and take in sites of historic and natural interest (Esk Valley Trail – 8 miles; Thornton Trail – 9 miles; e Mount Lothian Trail – 11.5 miles). A spacious 30m by 40m indoor arena is available for rainy days and there are plenty of X-country jumps dotted around the farm.
